For his Gardenias collection, an outdoor furniture collection that he designed for BD Barcelona Design, Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon wanted to create a set of forward-thinking vases. “We tried to update and upgrade the use of terracotta by creating something more-fantastical, more-artistic,” Hayon states in a video that you can view below, “…keeping, though, the technique and the ability of hand making these pieces.” The furniture collection is diverse and versatile but the vases are by far the stars of the show. In fact, they almost upstage the flowers that grace them, which is a good problem to have.
