A galvanizing call for reform… Ai’s voice carries louder than ever before. – Variety
CFile Home Team offers another event at CCA’s Cinematheque you should not miss, the acclaimed documentary Ai Weiwei: The Fake Case. This Saturday, May 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Santa Fe the film will be screened followed by a discussion between Eileen Braziel (who is working on a collaboration between this artist and the Navajo Nation) and Garth Clark, Chief Editor of CFile (who has just completed his book on Ai’s ceramics).
To Ai Weiwei, a life lived in silence is not a life. It is death. And so, even after being snatched and detained by Chinese police for 81 days, (under constant surveillance), and under incredible stress, the indefatigable artist finds ways to make subversive art, continue his push for human rights and give voice to the Chinese voiceless. (Denmark, 2013, 89m, DCP, International Film Circuit).
