This video, produced by Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej, shows a talk Polish designer Marek Cecula gave regarding the dinner table as form and landscape. Cecula heads the Ćmielów design studio, which develops culinary porcelain that adds new dimensions to the ritual of eating. His approach to his practice is the realization that modern people eat as much for the experience as they do necessity. Once freed from the idea that tableware products should be entirely utilitarian, Cecula and similar designers have the ability to experiment with new shapes, designs and technology, pushing the realms of ceramics and fine dining further. This presentation is excellent for anyone interested in entering the headspaces of some of the finest ceramic designers working today.
Cecula was the head of the ceramic design department at Parsons School of Design in New York and he is currently a visiting professor at the Royal College of Art in London.
