If you suffer from horror vacui these mesmerizing coaster tiles by Matt W. Moore might be for you. But whoever you are, we don’t recommend drinking while watching this video.
Core Deco sells these glazed ceramic tiles (dimensions 4.25 inches by 4.25 inches) in sets of four for $85. They suggest placing them together for a large teapot or breaking them apart as coasters for your guests’ drinks. They’re also fun to arrange and re-arrange for some trippy op-art effects.
Moore, born in 1980, is based in Portland, Maine and graduated from the Maine College of Art in 2005 with a degree in graphic design and new media. He is the founder of MWM Graphics and calls his signature style “vectorfunk,” which he describes as “a digital playground of geometry, pattern and vibrant color.” He’s worked with companies such as Ray-Ban, Apple, and Coca-Cola. The majority of his work for galleries is made in the gallery space and is accompanied by outdoor murals and street paintings. His recent exhibitions include: GRAVITY, Since Gallery, Paris, 2012; XYZ AXIS, YES Gallery, Cincinnati, Ohio, 2011; PARALLEL UNIVERSE, POP Gallery, Sao Paulo, Brazil (2009).
This video demonstrates the dizzying array of visual effects these tiles by Matt W. Moore can pull off.
