BDDW is a furniture and ceramics studio in Philadelphia. Its pieces are all made by BDDW founder Tyler Hays, a creator who comes from a variety of disciplines, including painting, engineering, sculpting and building.
Hays produces a line of ceramics with clay taken from underneath the studio in Frankford Philadelphia. The story goes that the clay was discovered while Hays was installing a geothermal heating system. Hays and his crew dug out 20 bathtubs of clay, then sealed the pit permanently. Calling the stoneware “as-local-as-it-gets,” Hays’ pieces are unique and limited in number. His use of glaze often has a misty effect, accenting nicely the sometimes-grim fairytale-like scenes adorning the vessels.
The following is a gallery of pieces we’ve assembled from BDDW’s work.

I love the form of the pottery. Authentic and honest. The colors and the finishes are so pure. I would like to live around these beautiful pieces. Where can I shop for these?
