NEW PALTZ, NEW YORK — SUNY New Paltz is seeking an artist and educator for a full-time position at the rank of Lecturer during Fall 2016 semester.
Responsibilities:
The position consists of a teaching load of 3 courses in Fall 2016 at the undergraduate level from the following: Basic Ceramics, Intermediate Ceramics Processes and Techniques, and Wheel Throwing. In addition to teaching, the position will work with ceramics faculty to establish a new initiative in ceramic design, fabrication, and production. We are in the planning and development stages of a small-scale ceramic manufacturing and digital design center that will act as a bridge between designer, maker, educator, and community. These additional responsibilities equal the balance of the full-time position.
Minimum Qualifications: MFA in studio art or the equivalent, with an active professional practice and record; University-level teaching experience; outstanding communication and organizational skills; ability to engage creatively and collaborate effectively with teaching faculty, technicians, and a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications: University-level teaching experience beyond graduate TA; experience in ceramic design and production including digital fabrication processes; experience with additive manufacturing, 3d printing, and CNC prototyping; experience with wood shop operation and safety.
