COPENHAGEN, Denmark — Today, we delve into a photo essay of Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen’s exhibition Being Human Being at the Nikolaj Kunsthal Contemporary Art Center, (Octoer 24, 2014 – January 25, 2015) which begs the questions where/who/what do we actually come from, who is the original human and what lies behind the concept of the original human being?
Nikolaj Kunsthal’s gallery writes:
The exhibition examines the way we search for and produce our natural and human origin, and how it influences the way we understand ourselves. Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen are based on geology science studies of the Earth’s structure and development, and (perhaps) can provide answers to how life has evolved into what we know today.
The exhibition consists of performative, sculptural, picturesque and auditory elements.
The production of the works is done through a series of performances that depict a three-stage movement; soil – body – language. Through repeated actions created ritual, meditative tableaux.
