Salone del Mobile saw some non-architectural work from famous architect Zaha Hadid. Partnering with the Italian marble company, Citco, Hadid created some pleated vases that take on the look of blooming flowers.
The Tau Vases, as they’re called, appear organic. Dezeen reports that the architect had previously worked on marble tables and black granite shelves for Citco. The vessels were drafted with the aid of a computer and shaped using a CNC machine, which carved the forms out of a solid block. The forms are availible in four different types of marble.
The flowery forms remind us of Hadid’s architectural work, specifically her (controversial) design for the Al Wakrah stadium, which will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
