The Kutarq Studio was founded in Valencia in 2012 by Jordi López Aguiló, an architect and designer who focused on spatial and product design. Aguiló strives for products that are “timeless, simple, innovative and above all meant to meet user needs.”
In 2013 the Black Swan clothing store in Valencia commissioned the studio to create a new clothing rack that gave them more space to hang new collections. Kutarq came up with a modular design that connects sticks and cone-shaped ceramic weights, which were shaped with a ceramic lathe. The bases of the ceramic cones were filled with concrete for stability.
The studio states: “The set can be shaped in unlimited ways and the number of the wooden sticks can be adjusted to the user’s needs. The assembly of the parts is very intuitive and takes only a few minutes.”
