Designboom wrote recently about how ceramics can help us be safer drunks. Lapka, a San Francisco-based company, unveiled the “BAM,” a small and stylish alcohol monitor made of ceramic. It fits in the palm of your hand and collaborates with an app on your Android smartphone (coming soon to iOS) to calculate the amount of alcohol in your blood. Remember: In most states it’s illegal to drive with a BAC higher than 0.08. Now, if they could just come up with a ceramic designated driver we’d be all set.
