Heath Ceramics is a design company which was founded in Sausalito, California. In addition to making tiles in San Francisco, the company also produces ceramic tableware. The company states that their work “blurs the line between everyday objects and family heirlooms.”
Heath released a collection of winter designs recently, but rather than sticking to convention, the works remain rooted in California. Cool, but not bleak, the designs convey a very specific mood and sense of location. We’re running a few of the designs here, accompanied by their description.
Above image: Seasonal Stencil Clock, 15″ diameter. A collaboration between Heath and House Industries. The clock face is formed in unglazed clay. The studio states: “We love the more contemplative side of the beach that winter brings.” They state that the clock “captures the moody coastal landscape of Northern California.” Cost: $350.

Medium covered serving dish. 9.5″ diameter. From Heath: “A heritage design from Heath, our classic Covered Serving dish gets a fresh look with our limited edition Surf Blue glaze. Matte on the outside with a glossy interior, this seasonal serving dish plays off the vibrant sky of the California coast once summer’s gone.” Cost: $138.

Galbraith and Paul Fern Runner. A linen table runner designed by Galbraith & Paul with a color palette inspired by the rest of Heath’s winter collection. 21″ x 60″, $199.

Linen table runner with a bird pattern designed by Galbraith & Paul, 21″ x 60″, $199.

Skinny laMinx Sway Runner, 24″ x 79″. Screenprinted with water-based ink, $55.

From Heath: “Our Breakfast Tea Set is made for those long winter days when you can linger over tea with good company. Taking our cue from the foggy landscape of Northern California’s coastline, we made it easy to take it slow when it’s chilly out…” $269.

A serving set inspired by the fog along California’s coast. Cost: $103, but currently out of stock.

Vegetable bowl designed with a matte shell white exterior and a stinson grey interior. Heath states: “The soft greys of this year’s seasonal vegetable bowl make it an instant classic for serving side dishes at holiday feasts, but we like it displayed all year round on the countertop.” $90.

Small Trade Company Triple Pocket Apron. Made in San Francisco. From Heath: “For our winter seasonal collection, we’re thinking about more contemplative side of beach after summer’s gone. Taking its cue from our collection’s focus on foggy coastal weather, this limited edition apron from Small Trade Company mirrors our love of soft greys.” $125.
