In 2008 Spanish creative consulting team CuldeSac was tasked with coming up with packaging for a “millennial olive oil,” El Mil del Poaig. The extra virgin olive oil comes from 437 Farga olive trees that are said to be 2500 years old; it is a variety native to the area of Maestrat on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The most expensive EVOO in the world deserves a bottle this special.
CuldeSac created a minimal yet patently erotic porcelain container which they say “enhances the ritual” by offering consumers an experience beyond the product itself. The white porcelain spout in the middle of the container allows users to see the oil’s color, texture, density, and purity.
The half-liter bottle was created using traditional Valencian porcelain techniques but the results are ultra modern. CuldeSac, who specializes in the design of products, interiors, branding and experience, really brought out the experience in what could have simply remained a product.
