Simon Naouri’s Crease porcelain lamp for Triode is as simple as it is delicate. It is also “sensitive” in its use of materials; the lamp’s electrical cord is sheathed in leather. The leather clad cable wraps around the top of the lamp like the cord on a draw sack and the light pours from underneath. The lamp was specially designed for Paris Design Week 2011 and made of Limoges porcelain by the master craftsmen at Non Sans Raison.
Naouri’s intention for his lamp is to call into question the assumptions we have about the objects we surround ourselves with, “Are we all subject to adorn objects with complex manufacturing techniques and materials?”
Naouri is a 26-year-old Parisian designer who graduated with a background in digital crafts from the St. Etienne and Reims schools of art and design. He works as a freelancer for various design and interior architecture agencies. He’s worked with agencies such as Claudio Colucci and Olivier Gossart, both of Paris
