LONDON — World renowned wallpaper manufacturer Cole & Son has teamed up with South African-based Ardmore Ceramic Art for their latest collaboration — a strikingly sophisticated collection of wallpapers and borders celebrating Africa’s traditions and cultures.
Cole & Son writes, Ardmore’s artists, with their attention to detail, explore the elements of their tribal tradition, contextual narrative and the majestic landscape to bring to life their stunningly vibrant sculptural ceramic works.
Drawing inspiration from Ardmore’s [colorful] and quirky ceramics the collection explores Africa’s exotic flora and majestic fauna: from rare birds to big cats, elephants, rhinos and mischievous monkeys; as well as the beautiful patterns of Zulu beadwork and woven basket ware.
Visi writes the collaboration is the handprinted wallpaper manufacturer’s first endeavor with an African design studio.
Ardmore Ceramics is the first African design studio to be approached for a collaboration with the world-renowned Cole & Son and the collection features a range of vibrant, conversational, pictorial wallpapers and borders that add a new, African dimension to the extensive Cole & Son library.
