The Christian Lacroix fashion label of France and the Vista Alegre porcelain manufacturer of Portugal teamed up to design four vibrant collections of tableware. The results were on display at Ambiente 2013 in Frankfurt, Germany, an international fair that exhibits the latest in consumer goods and design trends.
The longtime creative director at Christian Lacroix Maison, Sacha Walckhoff, directed the creation of the four sets. Each collection follows a theme, but in keeping with the bold, clashing patterning that Lacroix is famous for, they were intended to be mixed-and-matched. Sol y Sombra features the watercolor stripe pattern that is a trademark of Lacroix’s haute couture. There’s also Forum, that derives its imagery from 19th century monuments in Arles, and a tiled, mosaic-themed pattern titled Picassiete. The final set, Butterfly Parade, is exactly that: a colorful cascade of butterflies. Gold and platinum are used throughout the collections.
