Jonathan Entler runs ENTLER design studio located in Echo Park, Los Angeles. Entler specializes in decorative lighting, handmade fixtures produced in very limited runs. He states that he “carefully works each piece into a larger body of work— one that seeks to push creative boundaries through ongoing experimentation with new techniques and processes.”
His goal is to make objects that become the centerpiece of the room. The lights we are showing here today may very well achieve that. These soft ceramic forms, many of them polished to a high gloss, have character in spades. They appear animated. We can picture the long, slender table lamps twisting their necks to look at us. The more stout pieces look as though they’re made of a cushion-y material, not something as rigid as ceramic. There are variations on the theme with matte surfaces and different glazes. The thin table lamps work just as well hanging from the ceiling as they do occupying a night stand.
These are sculptural lighting fixtures for the home. That, combined with the limited runs, account for a price tag north of $500. The lamps can be purchased on Entler’s personal page or through Lawson-Fenning.
