A recipient of the Platinum A’ Design Award in furniture, decorative items and homeware for 2013-2014, The Baan Dinner Set Cupboard from Partly Cloudy Studio was inspired by family dinners at home.
Designers Paitoon Keatkeereerut and Chawin Hanjing said “Baan” in the Thai language means “home.” The designers said they wanted to recreate the atmosphere of dinner time, surrounded by family and good conversation. The cabinet is specifically designed for use around dinner. There are sections inside for silverware, glasses and similar utensils. These are incorporated into the look of the home. The silverware and paper towel sections make up the chimney while wine glasses set inside the cabinet become a chandelier. A dish rack inside becomes a staircase.
The designers graduated from Rangsit University in Bangkok and received their graduate degrees in interior design from the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London.
