We are proud to present our newest addition to the global ceramics community: CFile Shop is now open.
CFile Shop is a non-profit online gallery that specializes in exclusive offerings of ceramic limited editions by leading artists, architects and designers in our field. We also offer some open editions and unique artworks and we are a valuable resource for hard to find books about ceramics. As you know, CFile is a non-profit so the Shop is a fundraiser for us. Proceeds from sales at the Shop will help support not only the Weekly, but also CFile’s many upcoming educational programs.
For our opening we are excited to present a new concept in ceramics; we’re calling it Ceramics Limited. For the past few months CFile has been working with an impressive group of young, emerging and established artists to produce something surprisingly rare in the ceramics world: limited editions. To begin, we have asked artists to design fine art plates, and the work that has rolled in so far is sophisticated and exciting. Artists who have already made editions for Ceramics Limited include Barnaby Barford, Matthew Causey, Robert Dawson, Molly Hatch, Niki Johnson, Steven Lee, and Martin Smith, and this list is continuing to grow. Made exclusively for CFile, the editions are produced in small quantities, and will only be available at CFile Shop. As editions sell out, they will not be reissued.
We are also very excited about our bookstore. The bookstore specializes in hard-to-find and limited edition books and catalogs about ceramics. You won’t find these books on Amazon. One highlight is an elegant catalogue of Ron Nagle: A Survey Exhibition 1958-1993 (Mills College Art Gallery September 8-October 24, 1993). Chances are, you don’t have a good Nagle book in your collection because there are not many out there. This is the one to have, but there are very few in stock, so quit reading this post and get there quick!
