International design collective Weiss-heiten in 2013 completed a store interior in Berlin which looks like it has a refreshing mint flavor.
The storefront is the first German signature store for skin care company Aesop. The company says the store, tiled in glorious green monochrome, has elements of both historical Berlin and Bauhaus contemporary influences. Inspired by German artist Gerhard Richter, the store boasts a clinical aesthetic, while also creating a sense of the natural world. The green is contrasted with elements including an oak counter top and a sink salvaged from a 1950s farm, which is there to reference the building’s previous life as a dairy store.
The store is located in Alte Schönhauser Strasse, in the capital’s central borough of Mitte.
Weiss-heiten has studios in London, Berlin, Paris and Zurich. Their website claims that the individual experience and creativity of their various studios work to inspire their peers. “As a result,” the design firm states, “we bring the heart of European culture to our daily life and work.” Above image: Aesop store in Berlin’s Mitte borough by Weiss-heiten design studio.
