Calling new techy products that integrate with your computer or mobile device a “smart” anything is a moth-eaten cliche at this point, so it’s refreshing when a designer comes forward with something that actually deserves the name.
Swiss designer Yves Béhar is about to sell a “smart cup,” called the Vessyl. Using proprietary design which he’s reluctant to share many details about, the cup analyzes what you drink and sends that information to your mobile device. It breaks down the components of beverages and shares that information, such as how much you drank, how much sugar was inside your beverage and how well you’re staying hydrated. According to the product page, this will work with everything from caffeine, to beer, to soda.
