Christian Bjørn, a designer from Denmark whose work has previously been awarded both the IF Industrial Design and Red Dot design awards, made a set of steam dishes which maximize the space inside your oven.
Bjørn recently created the Steam Tower for Menu. It’s a set of stackable porcelain trays which can cook several different dishes in your oven at the same time. The designer states it was inspired by Asian cuisine and preserves the tradition of steaming fish, vegetables, meat and rice. The dishes have heat-resistant silicon feet, making the dishes safe to set directly on the tabletop after they’re taken from the oven. It was designed in collaboration with Michelin Chef Morten Køster, who created a recipe book which accompanies the set. We couldn’t find the set on Menu’s web site. We included a link to Houzz, which has a set of trays available, but the listing makes no mention of the recipe book.
Christian Bjørn has been a noted Danish designer since 1974, when he founded his own design studio, in 2002 he founded an industrial design studio, which focuses on the consumer market. He is a lecturer, teacher and served as chair of the Danish Design Center for several years.
