Osoro, a tableware set by designer Manabu Tago, took honors in 2013, receiving a Golden A’Design Award and a Red Dot Best of the Best design award.
The set, according to its explanation with A’Design, handles everything from cooking, serving and storing food. The tableware is made from vitrified porcelain and comes with multicolored silicone lids. The vessels are designed to hold up in microwaves, steam ovens, refrigerators or freezers and are dishwasher safe. The set is stackable, which the company cites as a success of the project as porcelain ware typically shrinks during the firing process.
According to his biography on Japan Design Consultants Association, Manabu Tago graduated in 1994 from the Tokyo University of Art and Design Management class. He previously designed personal computers and home appliances for Toshiba and in 2008 founded MTDO.
