We have over 3,000 posts in our vault. We occasionally repost from this cache of top features on art, design and architecture, but especially so in the case when the world of ceramic art and contemporary ceramics has lost a kindred such as noted Navajo artist Christine McHorse, who passed away on February 18, 2021.

So sorry to hear the news of Christine’s passing. I know you were close friends and will miss her. I enjoyed meeting Christine and seeing her exhibition with the Nixi Potters when we were in Santa Fe in 2013.
Her work is masterful and genuine and I am sure she had a lot more to make in a life cut short.

What a loss. The film gives such a beautiful insight into the spirit of this wonderful artist. I so appreciated her comments about respecting the local clay, about how the shapes of animals have purpose, how the important thing is to have someone to appreciate the form. Christine Nofchissey McHorse was a beautiful artist and human being–thank you for reposting this. She will be very much missed.
