FOSHON, China—Chinese design company BENTU aims to reduce the tons of waste created by the world’s largest and oldest ceramics factory in Foshon, which is aptly called Ceramic City. The innovative design firm collects the ceramic waste and mixes it with a slurry rendering sleek terrazzo furniture to dazzling effect. The project, called Ceramic Made, includes tables, shelving and spacey pendant lamps resembling the planet Saturn, Design Milk writes.
Seeking to somehow integrate waste materials back into use in a broad, general way, they began to transform the waste product into everyday furniture that can be produced on a large scale.
