London designer Bilge Nur Saltik wants her set of ceramic tableware, Share.Food, to encourage people to do just that. Her project makes users conscious of their dining etiquette and functions as an invitation to open up to one’s dinner companions. To prompt people to share their meals, these bowls and glasses are designed with an angle on the base of the piece, allowing it to tilt but not tip over, as you offer your plate or glass to another person. The bases of the tableware are bright pink. If you’re eating on a white or reflective surface, the dishes reward you for sharing with a rosy glow.
Bilge Nur Saltik was born in Istanbul and currently lives in London. She graduated from Yeditepe University in 2010 with a double major in industrial design and graphic design. She exhibited Share.Food at London Design Week 2013.
