GYEONGGI, South Korea — The Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza has been invited to South Korea to represent Italy at the Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale 2017 (April 22 – May 28, 2017) with a show featuring Italian contemporary ceramic art and contemporary ceramics.
Aligning with the overarching theme of the Biennale ‘Ode to Life,’ the exhibition titled In the Earth Time presents a selection from four generations of artists, all of whom have participated in Premio Faenza, Italy’s oldest ceramics competition, organized by the Museum since 1938, Interni Magazine writes.
The 22 artists focus on the fact that Earth time guides working time referring not only to the technical conditions of time, but also to an additional dimension of time on Earth. This can be interpreted as the time we are called to live upon the earth, or our physical and mortal dimension, the museum writes.
The selected artists’ work considers our time on Earth as something temporary and very much based upon the human exploitation of natural sources. Four such possibilities emerged and are featured as different sections of the show:
