London-based designer Benjamin Hubert created a series of terracotta containers called Pots for the scandinavian home design company, MENU, that offers both an ancient and modern experience within the kitchen. The raw and grainy tactility of the terracotta pots clashes with the glazed interior and soft rubber lids. When using Hubert’s Pots, one experiences first-hand the juxtaposition between the ancient traditions found in terracotta and the industrial modernity embedded in the mass-produced rubber lids.
Benjamin Hubert founded his North East London studio in 2009 after graduating with an Industrial Design and Technology degree from Loughborough University. He’s worked with brands such as Nike, Samsung, and Coca Cola and is the recipient of such awards as Design of the Year at the British Design Awards in 2010.
