PARIS — Bellila design studio was founded with the goal of using nature to enhance the home. The studio was founded by Paul Bellila in 2015 and he states he is passionate about bringing the outdoors into living spaces through furniture.
That design sensibility is on display with Paul’s “Volcane” series, tables that form a curved ceramic foot, extending up into a tabletop that has just enough space for a small plant or bonsai tree. Since tables are the center of much activity in the home, the design means that the plant is given a place of prominence. There’s a link between houseplants and one’s physical and mental health, so we wonder what benefits, if any, would come from turning a plant into a focal point. Home World Design describes the concept behind “Volcane:”
Paul Bellila, the young designer who realized this innovative furniture, grew up in the countryside, in a village in the Rhone-Alpes Region, surrounded by plains, lawns and forests. Once he arrived in Paris, Paul had to integrate in a more dynamic life environment, where he missed the nature he was used to. From this feeling of nostalgia, the Volcane collection of little tables was born in order to bring a breeze of nature and freshness to a room.
The tables come in surfaces with natural wood grain or ceramic. There are both white and black ceramic versions. The ceramic tables retail for a little under $1,000 each.
