John Mason is one of the essential Los Angeles-based artists of the postwar period. With his peers Peter Voulkos and Ken Price, who were also associated with what was then called The Otis Art Institute, Mason formed the vanguard of a new California ceramics movement. Together they broke from the craft tradition and took ceramics to the forefront of Contemporary Art. The videos below are recent interviews with Mason.
