Spanish product designers Marcial Ahsayane and Miriam Liebana formed the Ahsayane Studio when they started working together in 2009. Now based out of Brussels, the pair included ceramics as a focus of their design work in 2010 for projects which include lighting, packaging and product design.
In 2011 the studio accepted a private commission to design a series of porcelain plates. The Itadakimasu plate, with its simple, almost clinical feel was the result. The white glove seen in one of the photographs speaks to the tableware’s aesthetic; you’d almost hate to get these plates dirty with something as profane as food.
The tray-like plates (Trend Hunter compared them to Styrofoam take-out containers) are made to be easily stackable to optimize space within the kitchen. A tab on the corner with a hole drilled through it allows the plates to be hung in the same way you might hang a pot or a pan.
