In 2013 Dutch sculptor and performance artist Alexandra Engelfriet was asked to create a work at the Le Vent des Forêts sculpture park in Lorraine France, which has more than 100 works of art.
She created Tranchée. According to the artist, the project took place inside a 50-meter long trench. She sculpted ten meters of this trench with about 20 tons of clay. A kiln was constructed around this section and fired day and night during the course of a week. The video above shows how Egelfriet used her entire body to shape the walls of the work.
