The CTRLZAK Art and Design Studio created a set of tableware which, quite literally, brings together two ceramic styles.
Each dish in the “Hybrid” collection is split in half. The graphic on one side depicts something from the West, such as a fox hunting party. The other half is themed with an Eastern motif, such as koi fish.
The two halves are divided with a colored line, which the design studio states marks “the boundary between the two styles and, paradoxically, [strengthens the union at the same time.]”
The set is produced in bone china by Seletti. It consists of dinner plates, fruit plates, bowls, coffee cups, mugs and a salad bowl.
The CTRLZAK studio was founded by Thanos Zakopoulos of Greece and Katia Meneghini of Italy. Of their philosophy, the pair says they try to “inspire a responsible awareness through the ‘added value’ that art has for society with a special attention to issues of environmental impact.”
